Zotero is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share research. Created at CHNM in 2006, Zotero and is used by millions of people every day all around the world, making it one of the most successful pieces of software ever built for the humanities. In 2013, several faculty from RRCHNM (and several others) started a new non-profit corporation, the Corporation for Digital Scholarship, to take over the work on Zotero and since then that non-profit has been responsible for all aspects of the development of Zotero.

Sync your Zotero library so the article’s item record on your library on Zotero.org is updated as well to include the cloud storage file links. Now from this computer, or your library on Zotero.org, or any other computer that is synced to it, you will be able to open the PDF from the Zotero record if you are logged in to your Dropbox/etc. Zotero is free and open-source reference management software to manage bibliographic data and related research materials (such as PDF files). Notable features include web browser integration, online syncing, generation of in-text citations, footnotes and bibliographies, as well as integration with the word processors Microsoft Word, LibreOffice. Zotero works with both Microsoft Word and Google Docs. The functionality in Google Docs is the same as for Word below with the exception of a simpler menu.
